Cabinet Painting Process
STEP 1
Cabinets doors must be numbered and removed.
This is a very important step as any kind of mix up here can
add several hours to the reinstallation process.
STEP 2
Cabinets must be cleaned.
The surfaces of cabinets accumulate grease from cooking and
oil from hands touching them.
A thorough cleaning ensures the paint will adhere to the
cabinet surface.
STEP 3
Painting areas must be masked.
Essentially everything in your kitchen other than the
cabinets will be masked off – 0ven, dishwasher, countertops, microwave,
ceilings.
STEP 4
We also cover the floor, including a path to and from the front door to avoid tracking dust throughout the house. Cabinets must be sanded and primed.
STEP 5
The entire surface of the cabinets must be sanded, then primed, then sanded again after the primer is dry. Cabinets must be sprayed.
STEP 6
Now it’s time to spray! For this to be done right, it takes two, and for some materials (like oak), even 3 coats of paint.
STEP 7
Reinstallation. The final step!
This can be a lengthy process when adding in new hardware, new hinges, drilling holes, adjusting doors, and minor touch ups.
After all the installation, then we remove all of the masking and reveal your new kitchen!
